CSU Libraries (Schwob and Music) houses a collection of over 400,000 volumes and has a staff of 24. The Schwob (main) Library maintains a selective Government Documents depository collections and a local history/archives section; it operates an Information Commons and employs a tiered approach to reference service. The successful candidate will join the Information Services Department in providing superior services by providing general and subject-specific instruction and research services using current technologies and information resources in print and electronic formats; cultivating partnerships through active liaison work with faculty and students by promoting library services and resources in the following subject areas: Biology, Chemistry, Health Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Geology and Nursing; working some night and weekend hours in the Information Commons; participating in library supported professional development activities and community service; and promoting user education by conducting bibliographic instruction sessions and teaching an information literacy credit course.
Required: ALA-accredited MLS. Minimum of one to two years of experience in science-related setting, demonstrated subject knowledge and experience in at least one of the core sciences and demonstrated knowledge of traditional and electronic reference (general and specific) sources; must be able to demonstrate the potential to meet promotion requirements in a non-tenure track faculty appointment. The successful candidate is customer service-oriented with strong presentation and interpersonal skills, both oral and written communication, including an ability to interact with colleagues, students, faculty, and staff with diverse backgrounds, cultures and learning styles; and must demonstrate an ability to provide, develop and assess reference, instruction and liaison services.
Include undergraduate degree in one of the core sciences with at least one year of professional experience in an academic library; experience providing liaison, collection development, instruction and reference services; and experience applying current knowledge and technology to face-to-face online instruction which include experience teaching a credit bearing course F2F and/or online.
