Columbus State University has an opening for an Assistant Vice President for Business and Finance in the Office of the Vice President for Business and Finance. The Assistant Vice President for Business and Finance functions under the supervision of the Vice President for Business and Finance and works with senior leadership and staff strategically and collaboratively to enhance the university's financial strength through innovative ideas; cost-effective approaches; and high quality budgeting, fiscal analysis, monitoring, planning and reporting.
The Assistant Vice President oversees key financial functions within the University and ensures that University funds are properly received, spent, and reported in accordance with university and Board of Regents’ policies and state and federal regulations, serving a range of internal and external stakeholders. In addition, this position assists the Vice President for Business and Finance with special projects and serves as a backup, assuming responsibility for the division in the absence of the Vice President for Business and Finance.
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or related field (a Master’s degree is preferred); seven to ten years of progressive management experience, at least five of which must be in a leadership position; three years of relevant experience in a fund-based and analytical role for an organization of comparable size and complexity; and experience in higher education with certification as a CPA, CMA, or CGFM strongly preferred. Additional requirements include demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of accounting, budget, financial reporting and analysis; demonstrated experience in managing relationships and influencing outcomes; demonstrated leadership experience involving a high level of decision-making, planning, organizational, problem-resolution and leadership skills; solid understanding of internal control concepts and the implementation of internal control systems in a complex business environment; excellent supervisory and management skills and excellent communication skills to include strong presentation and writing skills.
The salary is commensurate with education and experience.
