Columbus State University’s Continuing Education, in collaboration with the Columbus Ballet, Inc., seeks candidates for a joint appointment as Ballet/Dance Program Coordinator at Columbus State University and the Artistic/Executive Director of the Columbus Ballet, a non-profit youth ballet company in Columbus, Georgia.
As the CSU Program Coordinator, the successful candidate will report to the Director of Continuing Education. This position serves as the primary representative for non-credit Continuing Education dance program (ages 3 – adult) that provides outreach and educational experiences to students. Responsibilities include researching programs/classes, developing classes/master classes, conducting needs assessments, designing curriculum, recruiting and evaluating instructors, budgeting, analyzing financial data, reporting, and other duties as appropriate. This position requires flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
This position will be responsible for planning and developing quality classical ballet/modern/jazz/lyrical curriculum that meets the needs of the students; recruiting students and teaching students at a variety of levels; and managing and nurturing the artistic development of students to include master classes and intensives; managing the day-to-day operations of programs to include curriculum design and coordination of program details, instructor recruitment and evaluation, budgeting and forecasting, analyzing program data, and timely reporting; and collaborating with the marketing manager to create a cohesive marketing plan, including printed materials, websites, social media, etc.
As the Columbus Ballet’s Artistic/Executive Director, the successful candidate will report to the Board of Directors with duties including but not limited to: overseeing the daily administrative business of the Columbus Ballet; assisting with marketing, development and grant writing; directing, choreographing Columbus Ballet performances; and working with volunteers to oversee productions.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required, and MFA in dance or other appropriate terminal degree is preferred or equivalent education and/or professional experience. In addition, the successful candidate will qualify for adjunct professor status in Columbus State academic programs with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate study in dance or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to: develop, implement, and evaluate classes, programs, and conservatory performances; possess strong oral communication, writing, editing, and proofreading skills; build positive working relationships while building consensus and effectively interacting with Columbus Ballet Board members, faculty, teachers, donors, volunteers, students and the community in a positive and inspiring manner; strong organizational and problem solving skills; ability to balance multiple priorities efficiently with excellent time management skills; budget and track financial performance; hire, supervise and evaluate artistic personnel including teachers, performers, and guest artists; with Columbus Ballet Board Treasurer, develop annual performance budget and reports; act as a spokesperson for the Columbus Ballet’s artistic purpose via speaking engagements, public and social appearances, as well as at fundraising events and solicitations; foster the development of good relations and partnerships with regional cultural organizations by participating in meetings and joint activities, where appropriate; provide reports to the Columbus Ballet Board of Directors on a regular basis to give an update on artistic, marketing, grant-writing, budget, fundraising, and volunteer activity; direct at least one production per season; and proficient in Web navigation and MS Office programs, with the ability to learn new software.
The salary is commensurate with education and experience.
