The College of Wooster invites applications for an assistant professor (tenure track) position in American Religious History in the Department of Religious Studies, beginning August 2014. The successful candidate should be a Religious Studies teacher-scholar focused on the history of religions in America, with research and training centered on the 19th century to the present but able to teach the full historical scope. Teaching profile includes: an Introductory course on American Religious Communities, and upper level courses which could include Global Christianity, New Age Religious Movements, American Catholicism, Native American Religions or other upper-level courses appropriate for undergraduate students on topics that reflect the candidate’s expertise. The position requires sometime who can treat the religious, ethnic, racial and gender diversity of America’s religious history and who can effectively address religious pluralism. The position includes directing and supporting students working on Junior and Senior Independent Study program. Applicants will also be expected to contribute to the College’s First Year Seminar Program. Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. in Religious Studies or a related field.
