Chemistry - One-Year Term
Located in central Minnesota, College of Saint Benedict, for women, and Saint John's University, for men, are nationally recognized Catholic liberal arts colleges and ranked as two of the top three Catholic colleges in the nation. They share one academic program, and students attend classes together on both campuses. The Chemistry Department of the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University invites applications for two, one-year term positions to begin August 2013. A Ph.D. in chemistry with interests reaching across chemistry sub-disciplines is preferred. A strong commitment to undergraduate education is required. Teaching assignments may include introductory chemistry (structure and properties), foundation courses (chemical reactivity), labs (structure, reactivity, and chemical analysis) and/or in-depth courses in their area. One position involves teaching half-semester, in-depth courses in chemical biology, metabolism and synthesis. Successful candidates will demonstrate a willingness to learn and use new pedagogies and a desire to explore new content areas. The chemistry department is ACS accredited and has 13 faculty members. APPLICATION PROCESS: Applications are accepted on line at https://employment.csbsju.edu. Applicants will complete a faculty application form and attach a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, and unofficial transcripts, (official transcript required for on campus interview).
You will also be required to submit at minimum 3 letters of reference. On the reference screen, you will be asked to list 3 names and email address. If you use a placement service, you will need to contact them to request the email address to list. The system will then automatically send an email to your letter writer or placement service requesting a letter of reference for you.
