. NETWORK EQUIPMENT, SERVER, OPERATING SYSTEMS, AND SECURITY CONFIGURATIONS & SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION: Makes enterprise network system configuration decisions. Engineers, installs, configures, tests, and maintains complex network equipment including edge, core, and distribution routers, distribution and access switches, and network appliances utilizing industry best practices used for data, telephone, audio/video, broadcasting, environmental, and security networks. Serve as System Administrator for designated network management servers and operating systems. Programs scripts and code to enhance network functionality. Tune network to work efficiently. Manages DNS. Implements, monitors, and documents firewall rule sets and access list restrictions. Provides port level security scans to Application and Server Technicians. Maintains TCP/IP addressing and automated inventory procedures.

2. NETWORK ANALYSIS & SUPPORT: Serves as network expert and system analyst for complex campus wired networks. Designs solutions. Provides Tier-two support to IT Server Support Analysts, Helpdesk Technicians, Classroom Technicians, Programmer Analysts, and other IT personnel. Evaluate and resolve critical campus-wide outages expediently. Troubleshoots and supports network equipment, management servers, operating systems, and software. Maintains network equipment racks in 50+ equipment rooms. Assists with training Temporary Network Engineers and Student Network Technicians. Track inventory changes and assist with annual physical inventory of 1000+ network assets. Creates complex Visio drawings and near real time Network Weathermap drawings of logical network infrastructure. Maintains organized and detailed network documentation. Backs up and documents new/modified network configurations, hardware, and software.

3. NETWORK MONITORING: Manages wired network performance and operation. Monitors logs, alerts, and management reports daily. Notifies Manager about any unusual network activity and assist with identifying its source and remediation. Programs, modifies, and maintains scripts to improve automated monitoring and electronic alerts. Assists with bandwidth management and Quality of Service.

4. PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Manages multiple simultaneous assigned projects utilizing efficient project management techniques. Meets milestones and deadlines. Serves on project teams. Collaborates with peers, IT personnel, faculty, staff, and team members. Provide informative communications and status reports. Conducts post-installation evaluation and remediation. Writes purchasing specifications for hardware and services needed for projects. Acquires quotes and options from vendors and manufacturers.

5. RESEARCH NEW TECHNOLOGIES: Responsible for researching new network technologies and products. Makes recommendations regarding technologies that will benefit the campus. Implements technology upgrades and enhancements. Understand new federal and industry regulations and policies that impact network design and operation.

Bachelor's Degree and demonstrated experience in network design and support, or a combination of education and experience which equates to the foregoing. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Must have thorough knowledge of Ethernet networks, 802.11 wireless networks, audio and video technologies. Thorough knowledge of OSI Model. Thorough knowledge of routers, switches, access points, gateways, Debian GNU/Linux servers, and other network and video equipment. Thorough knowledge of telecommunications distribution design and cabling installation. Knowledge of AutoCAD and Visio. Proficient project management skills. Proficient analyst skills. Proficient communications skills (both written and oral). Ability to work well with others. Ability to plan, organize and follow-through with multiple projects simultaneously. Desire technology certifications.
