Comparative Education. The Educational Studies Department at Colgate University offers a full-time tenure-stream position in comparative/international education at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning fall semester 2012. Colgate is a highly-selective liberal arts university of 2800 students situated in central New York. Colgate faculty are committed to excellence in both teaching and scholarship.
In addition to offering a major and minor concentration program in Educational Studies, we offer elementary and secondary education programs and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. The Educational Studies Department at Colgate is social justice focused. All our faculty are committed to providing a breadth of course offerings to students interested in studying education broadly but who are not intent on earning a teaching credential and to students planning a career in teaching. We are interested in receiving applications from individuals who understand the role of Educational Studies at a liberal arts institution and can contribute to the intellectual development of both groups of students. All Colgate faculty are expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
A letter of application, unofficial graduate school transcripts, current vita, brief statement of a teaching philosophy, and at least three reference letters must be submitted through https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jos/1437. Completion of Ph.D. or Ed.D. is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire.
Review of application materials will begin March 23, 2012, and continue until the position is filled. Applicants with dual-career consideration can find postings of other employment opportunities at Colgate and at other institutions of higher education in upstate New York at www.upstatenyherc.org. Developing and sustaining a diverse faculty, student body, and staff furthers the University’s educational mission. Colgate is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer; women and minority candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
