Under general supervision, the Instructional Programs Assistant performs a variety of tasks and functions associated with instructional programs including clerical and fiscal related tasks of moderate to complex levels. The position requires the incumbent to possess the ability to function and exercise independent judgment with minimal supervision and to perform other related duties as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
a. At the direction of the administrator in charge, assist instructors in preparing, structuring, and organizing instructional course materials in support of learning lab or classroom.
b. Coordinate various clerical and instructional support functions relating to a specified instructional program.
c. As directed, train and schedule student and hourly employees as needed to support the assigned instructional program in learning laboratories and/or classrooms.
d. Provide tutorial, audio-visual services, and computerized instruction assistance to students as necessary.
e. Record keeping of student attendance and instructional material usage in learning laboratories and/or classrooms.
f. Coordinate necessary printing orders in support of a specified instructional programs? learning lab or classroom.
g. Publicly promote and answer inquiries regarding instructional program/course offerings for instructional program assignment.
h. As directed, compile, organize and prepare a variety of reports from various sources related to the instructional program assignment.
i. Independently or with assistance, handle and prepare special instructional program projects when assigned.
j. Interact, support, and back up other clerical staff, as assigned, in the division office of the instructional program assignment.
k. Assist in ordering specialized text or other materials related to the requirements of the learning lab or classroom.
l. Maintain a systematic, orderly, and clean learning lab or classroom as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Faculty/Educational Administrators complete the Equivalency Application only if you do not meet the minimum qualifications for the position you are applying to, and you wish to be considered.
Knowledge of:
1. Modern office practices and procedures.
2. Written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with students, faculty, and other staff.
3. Audio-visual learning aides, computerized instruction, and other forms of supplemental materials in support of an instructional program.
4. Record keeping and report writing.
5. Principles of organization and time management.
6. Instructional program structure, organization, development, implementation, and supplemental forms of instructional support.
Ability to:
7. Operate a variety of equipment including audio-visual, standard office, computers, fax, copy machine etc.
8. Coordinate the learning lab or classroom assignment activities as directed by the instructional program administrator or faculty.
9. Perform independently in a learning lab or classroom assignment providing supplemental instructional services to students as directed.
10. Meet necessary time lines and handle learning lab or classroom problems as necessary.
11. Work with students of varying educational ability.
12. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
13. Establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
Education and Experience:
14. College level coursework as appropriate to the position.
15. Two years of experience in support of a specified educational program in the same or similar capacity.
16. Or any combination of education and experience, which would demonstrate possession of the required or equivalent qualifications.
Conditions of Employment
This is a regular, full-time, 40 hours per week, 12 month per year, position. The normal hours of work will be arranged between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor.

Salary Range
Salary Range E-45 (12 months @ 100%)
$42,464.00 (Step 1) to $51,770.00 (Step 5)
Based on the 2011/2012 12-month Salary Schedule
Pay Philosophy
Starting salaries for support staff positions begin at Step-1 of the salary range. Employees hired prior to April 1 of each year will move to the next step on the upcoming July 1. Employees hired on or after April 1 of each year will move to the next step the following July 1. All movement on the salary schedule will occur July 1 of each year for all classified employees.

Benefits:
The District provides a comprehensive benefit program effective the first calendar day of the month following the first day of regular employment.
