REPONSIBILITIES: The Executive Director for Professional and Continuing Studies is under the leadership of the Provost.  The Executive Director is responsible for promoting continuing education programs to individuals, employers, associations, organizations and the community by providing integrative leadership in the development, marketing, and enrollment in courses, classes, and events; and identifying and securing new contracts and clients.  He/she is also responsible for generating revenue by positioning the University to respond to education and workforce needs of individuals and employers both locally and statewide and by planning and executing an ongoing series of continuing education opportunities for the University’s service area and beyond. He/she will facilitate the development of online credit and non-credit courses for nontraditional students.  The Executive Director will work on partnering with academic deans to strengthen and strategically expand continuing studies and explore educational opportunities in credit, noncredit as well as certificate programs that respond to the needs of the community.  He/she provides strategic leadership in the development and continuous improvement of services for students in the program with emphasis on enrollment and registration services and financial processes; develops and communicates campus policy; directs the Summer School Program; prepares and compiles data to project the demands and successes for new academic and professional programs for the adult learner and workforce training needs; and performs any other duties within the scope of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:   The successful candidate should possess an earned doctorate with a sustained record of academic accomplishment and a proven record of increasing responsibility in academic administration of Continuing Education programs.  Past experience in developing online courses and programs, as well as certificate programs are highly desirable.  The successful candidate must evidence an exemplary record promoting programs to adult learners, developing programs to meet workforce needs, the recruitment of a diverse faculty, and the skills to foster interdisciplinary collaboration with other academic programs within the University and throughout the community.  The Executive Director must have a thorough knowledge of the academic needs of adult learners, as well as trends in nontraditional and distance education, excellent communication skills, a solid academic vision, and expertise in fiscal management.

SALARY:  Commensurate with experience.
