The City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) District 508, is the largest community college system in Illinois and one of the largest in the nation, with 5,800 faculty and staff serving 120,000 students at seven campuses and thirteen satellite sites city-wide. The City Colleges of Chicago is currently in the midst of a collaborative effort to review and revise CCC programs and practices to ensure students leave CCC college-ready, career-ready and prepared to pursue their life’s goals.

CCC includes seven colleges: Richard J. Daley College, Kennedy-King College, Malcolm X College, Olive-Harvey College, Harry S Truman College, Harold Washington College and Wilbur Wright College. The system also oversees: the Washburne Culinary Institute, the French Pastry School, two restaurants, five Child Development Centers, the Center for Distance learning, the Workforce Institute, the public broadcast station WYCC-TV Channel 20 and radio station WKKC-FM 89.3FM.

Duties

Serves as Office of Information Technology representative, leader and advocate for the development and maintenance of the District’s enterprise financial system to support the business and decision-making processes for the seven colleges and the District office. Responsible for the overall planning, direction, organization, and production support of the enterprise financial system including application development, system enhancements, data integrity, interfaces, report development, and related services that support the needs of the District.

Develops and manages the PeopleSoft Financial System production support staff within the OIT department. The production support team supports, maintains and updates the PeopleSoft Financial system. Conducts tests for all customizations, upgrades and other required enhancements, coordinates development efforts with production support staff, technical programmers, project team members, and provides ongoing support of the system.

Partners with OIT administrators to provide change control management when upgrading financial data bases, application upgrades, and any financial system modifications. Manages and directs OIT functional and technical support team members during the development of user defined requirements, providing oversight for design, and ensuring quality and standards meet defined expectations. Maintains and develops the tactical plan related to the District’s financial system. Works with security team to develop and monitor the integrity and system security of the PeopleSoft Financial System.

Develops and manages assignments, schedules, priorities, time lines, and resources associated with the day to day OIT support of the Financial System. Represents the OIT PeopleSoft Financial System Support Team to the District community, communicating status and information on data and systems. Manages the work and services of all support team resources that provide general operations including budget, expenditures, priority setting, resource allocation, staff management, project management, technical services, and communications.

Collaborates with District administrators to provide leadership and support for the financial system and databases that enhance the technology readiness of the District. Enforces OIT departmental policies and guidelines. Works as an integral member of the OIT Management team and prepares and discusses management reports used during union negotiations. Recommends personnel actions such as hiring, discipline, performance reviews, and vacation schedules.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, Master’s degree preferred, with at least six years of experience in the area of Information Technology management or an equivalent combination of experience with a history of progressively increasing responsibility and accomplishments in a college or comparable institution.

Requires an in-depth working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial System, release 8.9 or higher. Knowledge of multiple modules including Purchasing, GL, AP, AR, Asset Management, Budgets and Grants highly desired. Experience with ERP system implementations life cycle, including requirement analysis, application configuration, system integration and support required. Requires knowledge and experience in the use of other PeopleSoft applications and security methods.

Strong leadership, organization, planning, communication and presentation skills are essential. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and successfully across all levels of an organization. Evidence of success in a complex college environment is desired.
