GENERAL DUTIES: Performs teaching, research, and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION: The Department of Political Science at The City College of New York is searching for an accomplished scholar of international relations to fill its endowed Anne and Bernard Spitzer Chair of Political Science and International Security Studies. The position carries the rank of Full Professor with a highly competitive salary and a significant annual budget for research and other projects. The position includes a reduced teaching load of three courses per academic year, with teaching opportunities at the B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. levels.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent as noted below. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: We are particularly interested in candidates from the field of international security. The term "security" is very broadly defined to include human security and threats to the environment, livelihood, and culture, as well as the more traditional concept of freedom from threat. We are interested first and foremost in good scholars to fill the position, but we also invite applications from those who have strong records that combine scholarly research and practical experience in a governmental, international, or non-governmental organization that works in the area of international relations.
COMPENSATION: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
