The CSU Chancellor and Board of Trustees are seeking an experienced individual with proven leadership skills to become President of California Maritime Academy, located in Vallejo, California. After over a decade of outstanding and visionary leadership, Dr. William B. Eisenhardt, RADM USMS will be retiring at the end of the 2012 academic year.

The California Maritime Academy (Cal Maritime), one of the 23 campuses of the California State University System (CSU), is seeking a dynamic leader to be the next president.  Founded in 1929, Cal Maritime is a “niche” institution with a mission to be a leading educational institution recognized for excellence in the business, engineering, operations and policy development of the transportation and related industries of the Pacific Rim and beyond.  The institutional learning paradigm is guided by four compass points of intellectual learning, applied technology, leadership development and global awareness.  As one of only six State Maritime Academies in the United States, Cal Maritime is also tasked with providing maritime education to the citizens of the Western States, as well as American Samoa and Guam (16% of the students are from outside of California).

The 68-acre waterfront campus is located on the Carquinez Strait in the mild climate of the North Bay area of San Francisco Bay in the city of Vallejo. San Francisco is a thirty-five minute drive or a forty-five minute trip by high-speed ferry, and Silicon Valley in San Jose is fifty minutes by car. Located at the southern end of Napa and Sonoma Valleys, Vallejo is one of the most diverse cities in the United States. The over 200 faculty and staff serves 1100 FTE students, most of whom live on campus.  Over 35% of the student body is from underrepresented groups.  Average SAT and ACT scores of the entering class are normally the highest within the CSU.
