GENERAL DUTIES: The Vice President is responsible for one or more major College divisions and serves as a member of the President's Cabinet. He/she incorporates innovative practices into plans and strategies and collaborates with other College and University executives, and outside organizations as needed, to develop appropriate policy and acquire resources. He/she is a dynamic leader of an executive team responsible for personnel, budget, operations, and communications.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION: Borough of Manhattan Community College is located in lower Manhattan and serves 23,000 matriculated degree students and 10,000 non-credit students. The college and its educational foundation, the BMCC Foundation, seek a Vice President of Development to lead its resource development activities.
Duties:
The Vice President of Development reports to the President of the college, serves in his cabinet, and is chief operating officer of the BMCC Foundation. The Vice President is also the primary steward of the Foundation's Board of Directors.
The Vice President is the college's chief development officer and is responsible for developing a dynamic and multi-platform fund raising strategy. He/she is responsible for developing a program for increasing donor support by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting existing and new major donors. He/she will establish objectives and formulate strategies in the area of planned giving, foundation and corporate relations, major gift solicitation, management of the annual benefit gala, and the alumni affairs program. He/she will collaborate with members of the college, the BMCC Foundation Board of Directors, and the business communities to ensure the needs of BMCC and its students are met. The foundation has $4.5 million under management and has spent more than $6 million on scholarships since 2000.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will be a senior manager with leadership qualities. The ideal candidate will have a record of achievement in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations. The ideal candidate must have an understanding of development specific technology, strategic planning, and will have demonstrated success in fundraising. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Experience working in a large public institution or not for profit organization is highly desirable. Bachelor's degree required (master's degree preferred) and a minimum of eight to ten years experience, six of which should be as a top-level executive administrator.
COMPENSATION: Competitive and commensurate with education and experience.
