Assistant Professor of Special Education/Education

- Teach special education licensure and Master’s courses both on and off campus in areas of EBD and SLD in face to face and distance learning delivery formats.
- Teach courses in special education and standards of effective practice.
- Collaborate with other faculty in areas of interdisciplinary teaching and integrating special education principles in general education classes.
- Collaborate with other faculty to develop face-to-face and online courses in certificate programs in special education and other fields such as reading, ELL, RTI and other areas.
- Advise online and campus graduate students and undergraduate students in licensure areas and masters programs.
- Assist the department with NCATE accreditation and Board of Teaching program approval.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in special education at time of employment.
- University or college teaching experience.
NOTE: Applicants with more experience may be considered for hire at the Associate Professor level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years public school teaching in special education with experience in EBD and/or LD, as well as general education teaching experience.
- Experience with multi-categorical and high incidence disabilities, autism or Asperger Syndrome, special education, transition, or other aspects of special education strongly encouraged.
- Preference for candidates with a background in teaching reading, ELL, and RTI.
- Experience with BOT and the NCATE accreditation process highly desirable.
