This job expired 2 months ago.The Dean provides departmental oversight and is charged with the planning, budgeting, and operational management of the programs and services within the Academic Services department. The Dean reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and provides guidance and direction to the department’s Associate Deans.
The Dean is the administrative and operational leader of the department and
is responsible for all matters related to the administration of the department including programs & services, students, staff, facilities, budget and internal and external relations. The Dean represents the department to the Division of Academic Affairs and the college community at-large and also works externally to build the capacity of the department and enhance the quality of the student experience as well as the reputation, distinction, and influence of the department. The Dean increases and improves the intellectual, financial, and human assets of the department and is a key advisor to the Vice President, Academic Affairs, contributing to the overall success of the Division of Academic Affairs and the college as a whole.
The Dean provides strategic direction and leadership for the planning, implementation, assessment and administration of key academic support functions including developmental education, tutoring, e-learning, library and media services and adjunct faculty support.
Requirements:
An earned Doctorate from an accredited college or university in Education Administration or related field; or in a discipline taught at the college
Two years’ experience as department chair or other responsible higher education program administration
Demonstrated record of higher education scholarship and academic leadership
Essential Job Functions:
(Leadership)
Provide leadership and overall management for all academic services of the College
Provide advice to the Vice President for Academic Affairs on key policy and procedural issues, programs, accomplishments, as well as major decisions affecting developmental education, E-learning, library and adjunct faculty support programs and services within the department.
Supervise and evaluate Associate Deans and Directors and recommend the selection, promotion and termination of department staff.
Promote teaching, student learning and creative professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
Oversees the Assistant Dean, Adjunct Services; Associate Dean, Promise Academy; Director, E-Learning; and Director, Library and Media Services to ensure the strategic alignment and effective administration of academic support services consistent with the academic mission and objectives of the college
Continuously develop and enhance academic services, aligning them more effectively with the academic mission of the college, and improving coordination across all the areas involved to ensure student access, support and success
(Administration and Management)
Provide departmental leadership for the strategic planning process; develop, monitor and implement annual operational plans; and ensure operational efficiency.
Develop and recommend annual department budget based on strategic goals and manage budget to ensure compliance with College policies, procedures and objectives.
Ensure the effective and efficient operation of the department, including regular department meetings; timely preparation of reports and budgets; maintenance of records; development of quality presentations for College and board committees, etc.; establish and meet critical deadlines, planning objectives, and maintain contacts with vital external entities.
Supports the integration of technology to enhance the delivery of academic support services
(Distance Learning Expansion)
Articulate the vision, goals and objectives for distance learning expansion to students, instructors, support staff and administrators
Develop a strategic plan to enhance and expand distance learning enrollment and course offerings by provide distance learning opportunities to meet the growing needs for instructional delivery in all disciplines of the college
Address infrastructure, policy, instruction, and legislation requirements to enhance distance learning at the college and implement appropriate strategies, policies and processes
Identify, provide for, expand and coordinate the development of quality courses and programs to meet the needs of distance learners
Coordinate with key student and academic support service areas to develop or modify policies and procedures for providing services to distance learners in areas such as testing, admissions, registration, counseling, library services, financial aid and advising
Continuously evaluate the distance learning program and utilize findings to restructure and improve the program
Draft recommendations that address important areas for development and enhancement (i.e. infrastructure and standards)
(College Relations)
Chairs division and college-wide committees and/or participate on committees as a representative of the Vice President for Academic Affairs
Coordinate programs and services with other departments in meeting student needs.
Ensures that all academic support areas provide excellent, customer-oriented service delivery for students
Collaborates with leadership to enhance the student experience and continuously address and improve student success
Works with areas across the College to ensure compliance with changing federal regulations
Builds strong collaborations with Admissions and Financial Aid and related areas in order to ensure student-centered processes

Salary: $89,221
