The Instructional Technology Lead (aka eLearning Lead), in collaboration with and under the direction of the Managing Architect of eLearning Solutions (aka eLearning Manager), is responsible for coordinating and monitoring efforts which support the workflow for development, implementation and management of online courses. Supports the infrastructure that ensures the highest standard of quality and learning experiences for students in a higher education online environment.
I. Primary Duties
• Coordinates the workflow of development, delivery and enrollment of online courses to ensure the highest standard of quality and learning experiences for students.
• Responsible for site administration tasks, including but not limited to account management, course shell backups, restoration, duplication, enrollment and quality checking.
• Provides faculty training and support for course construction, course facilitation and course management.
• Supports the daily operations of the e-learning development workflow, including managing assignments of other team members in the construction, maintenance, updates and refinement of online courses, content, instructional media.
• Ensures technical support partner has updated documentation.
• Logs and tracks support tickets with learning platform host company
• Holds primary responsibility for troubleshooting technology issues related to the university’s learning portal, learning management system and other adopted instructional technologies. Supports faculty and students requests for tier 1 technical troubleshooting.
• Acts as a liaison with academic partners to integrate, implement, research and communicate technologies capabilities, limitations, possibilities and needs.
• Contributes in all stages of course construction, maintenance, updates and refinement.
• Develops content specific interactive learning modules, multimedia, web resources and instructional materials, including training demonstrations, videos and handouts for faculty and students
• Uses instructional technologies to construct/produce online course content, including text, graphics, and multimedia, using a variety of media and web content applications, audio and video capture programs
• Uses instructional and social learning technology including digital repositories, podcasts, blogs, social networking and other emerging technologies
• Stays informed of updates and upgrades, status of known issues, and new feature sets available in the open-source learning platform Moodle.
• Identifies and proposes innovative technologies that provide platforms for collaborative and engaging student learning experiences
• Constructs multiple courses at a time within a specified timeframe
• Carries out other duties and responsibilities assigned by the eLearning Manager
II. Required Experience / Education

• Bachelor's degree in instructional technology, design, education or related field
• Minimum of two years work experience in instructional design, curriculum development with subject matter experts to manage workflow of and to contribute in the construction of online courses in an education or training environment using a learning management system
III. Desired Experience / Education
• Master’s degree or equivalent in instructional technology, design, education, or a related discipline
• Minimum five years work experience in higher education, or online learning setting, with substantial experience development and implementation of online courses as well as in site administration or demonstrated web development, web master or web technologies experience.
IV. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Solid and current knowledge of web and social media/instructional media technologies
• Web production coordination experience in an online learning, elearning (training), or digital media production environment
• Experience/competence in designing and developing web content using HTML (or other web development languages); rich media using Flash, Adobe Captivate, Photoshop, video technologies; in site administration of a website and/or learning management system (preferably Moodle). Coding experience in PHP, SQL, HTML, CSS a plus, but not required.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with ability to maintain high levels of creativity and quality
• Demonstrated ability to work with subject matter experts and/or faculty, internal staff and team members to schedule and meet deadlines required for launch of online courses
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet project deadlines, and to work on multiple ongoing projects simultaneously with attention to quality and to detail
• Strategic thinker. Self-starter. Team-oriented communicator, collaborator, contributor comfortable with fast-paced workflow. Teachable spirit and patient teacher.
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures in a growing/changing university setting
• Ability to work under guidance of eLearning Manager, to also take initiative, think proactively, be accountable, take ownership of assigned responsibilities and work with little supervision, to ask clarifying questions whenever needed.
• Ability to adapt to changes in scope of responsibilities when called upon to meet growing demands of development as they arise.

• Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds

• Jenzabar EX - CRM, Student Accounts, Student Records, Financial Aid (desirable)
• Multimedia/Technology – video and audio capturing/editing software, graphic design, HTML, CSS, a plus. Social media technologies, educational technologies, Adobe Creative Suite software such as Photoshop, Captivate, Flash, video formats/compression (required). PHP, SQL coding (desirable, but not required)
