AUA invites applications and nominations for the position of Program Chair at the Political Science and International Affairs Program beginning fall 2014.
AUA is a privately endowed, independent American institution of higher education in the Republic of Armenia that is affiliated with the University of California. The program offers a two-year Masters of Political Science and International Affairs (PSIA) with cohorts of around 30 students each year. First year students take required courses across the discipline of political science. In the second year students decide upon one of two tracks: International Relations or Public Policy and Administration. All students are required to complete a master’s thesis.
Responsibilities include oversight and supervision of PSIA faculty, students and program activities, including the consulting activities of the Turpanjian Center for Policy Analysis (TCPA). Duties include recommending faculty hires, course schedule and teaching assignments to the College Dean; oversight of curriculum review and development, new course proposals; activities related to student recruitment, admissions, probation, advising, scholarships, tuition assistance, grade appeals, and graduation; formulation and management of the Program budget; faculty evaluations, new faculty orientation, faculty meetings; oversight of PSIA student learning assessments; support of faculty research and development; mentoring of junior faculty; and TCPA activities.

Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned PhD in Political Science, International Affairs or related field. Preference will be given to full or advanced Associate Professors with administrative experience at the Department Head level or above. Preferred qualifications include candidates with international experience, including experience in directing research and master’s theses. Documented excellence in teaching is required. Candidates should demonstrate an active research agenda.
Requirements: This full-time position requires the incumbent to reside in Armenia.
