This job expired 2 months ago.The Report and Proposal Writer is responsible for working closely with the Office of University Relations and Communications and the Professional Development Institute to develop concept papers, proposals and other documents aimed at securing appropriate education, development and training contracts in Afghanistan.
Responsibilities
• The Report and Proposal Writer is responsible for monitoring opportunities from government, international donors and other sources that are likely sources of business for the Professional Development Institute, other university departments, or AUAF as a whole
• The Report and Proposal Writer represents AUAF at all information sessions conducted by organizations which have issued request for proposals and similar calls.
• The Report and Proposal Writer works closely with the Office of University Relations and Communications to determine which opportunities are most appropriate and to prioritize the time and effort to be expended on each.
• The Report and Proposal Writer is responsible for developing a productive working relationship with donor agencies, NGOs, IGOs, institutes and other related contractor specific agencies in order to develop successful proposals on behalf of the Professional Development Institute or other university departments as appropriate.
• The Report and Proposal Writer submits proposals as appropriate and is responsible for ensuring that all submissions are in compliance with granting agency instructions.
• The Report and Proposal Writer is responsible for following up on all submitted proposals to monitor their status and to determine when proposals are accepted or rejected.
• For successful proposal bids, the Report and Proposal Writer is required to assist the Office of University Relations and Communications in negotiating contracts, provisions, and agreements.
• The Report and Proposal Writer will work in conjunction with the Director of the Professional Development Institute to identify key personnel who will be associated with project implementation should a proposal be accepted.
• The Report and Proposal Writer is responsible for reporting as required the status of all proposals including those accepted, those still under consideration, and those rejected.
• The Report and Proposal Writer may on occasion be responsible for developing presentations and other materials on projects undertaken by the Professional Development Institute as the result of successful proposals.
• The Report and Proposal Writer may be required to serve on University committees and work groups that are related to development goals and objectives.
• The Report and Proposal Writer may be required to travel within Afghanistan to attend pre-solicitation meetings given on behalf of donor agencies.
Qualifications:
1. A recognized undergraduate degree
2. Exceptional English language skills
3. Significant report, proposal, and editing experience in Afghanistan or a similar environment with a strong proven track-record for success
4. Ability to comprehend quickly complex ideas and translate them into clear, concise language
5. Experience with USAID, United Nations, DoD, GIRoA and other contracting agencies in Afghanistan preferred
6. Knowledge of solicitation procedures and donor agency reporting requirements a plus
7. A high degree of organizational skills
8. Experience with contracts and program management preferred
9. Ability to handle the stress of proposal submission deadlines
