Associate Professor of Communication/Head of the Department of Communication and Fine Arts
The Department Head position is a 12-month faculty, tenure-track position and reports to the Dean of the School of Liberal Arts. This position involves a combination of teaching, student advisement, and administrative responsibilities. The Department of Fine Arts and Communication includes excellent programs in Art, Music, Journalism/Mass Media, and Communication. Administrative duties include supervision of faculty, coordination of assessment activities, development of programs and management of department schedule, and some recruiting. Teaching duties could include Dynamic Communication Methods and Intercultural Communication, majors courses within the Rural Studies baccalaureate program, as well as the majors courses for the associates degree in Communication and the Communication course required by the core curriculum. The department head is expected to exhibit a strong commitment to scholarship in one or more of the various fields of Communication and ensure the participation of faculty in scholarly activity.
Terminal degree in Communication or related field required; At least 2 years of relevant administrative experience; Minimum of 3 years of college-level teaching experience.
